A Silent Partner
Writing my first blogpost gives me the same feeling as opening up a new sketchbook or approaching a blank canvas.
I want to say "Sorry, not sorry" in advance for any misspelling, bad grammar, cussing, unprofessionalism, and sarcasm that is likely to occur in this or any future blog posting. BON'Z EYE is for anyone who may be curious to catch a glimpse into my artist life. I will strive to post bimonthly. As a procrastinator this may be somewhat erratic, but that's one of the issues I've been working on this year.
I want to talk about The Silent Partner behind the scenes of my everyday life as an Artmaker.
His name is Bill. My lucky spouse.
He has not only reigned as my secretary, travel agent, accountant, financier, counselor, computer guru, photographer, biggest fan and collector, cheerleader, carpenter, muscle man, personal chef and perhaps most importantly my bartender. He has done all without much complaint. Almost always Silent.
I admire folks who can seemingly conduct any business alone with fierce independence. More power to them.
Having this inexhaustible backup system has briefly caused periodic guilt on my part. Thoughts of "I'm not a real artist if I can't support myself or a family with my art" or "I'm too normal...real artists struggle and are surrounded by drama".
I say this is a bunch of BS.
Art is from the heart. It's reflective of what is inside whether it comes from a seasoned professional. hobbyist or first grade budding artist.
There is no shame in a support system be it a spouse or a beloved pet.
Most importantly, we all need to make certain that in some way we act as Silent Partner to others. What can WE do to make somebody else's load lighter and brighter?
I cherish my Silent Partner and say thank you from the bottom of my paintbrush-dipped, delivered first-thing-every-morning coffee cup.
Thank you Bill. I truly appreciate everything you do... and will hopefully continue doing for me. To eternity, baby!!
